The next day, Mario sat on an empty crate in some sort of underground labratory, right underneath the tribe's camp. Penelope had ordered him to sit there until further notice, so there he was, sitting all alone. Just then, a large metal door opened and Penelope, Peach, Luigi, Toad, and a Noki that Mario didn't recognize.
Penelope turned to the Noki. "Scotty, have you brought the bottle?" The Noki, Scotty, nodded and pulled it out from his shell. Mario wondered what else Nokis could hide in their shells. Scotty walked up to Mario.
"Alright, Mister Mario, are you ready?" He asked in a timid, quiet voice. Mario nodded, and stood up. He was wearing his old diving helmet, and a water jetpack. Mario didn't really like it, as it reminded him too much of FLUDD, who had malfunctioned beyond repair many months ago.
Mario took a deep breath. "So I go in, get the bottle and come out?" "Yes." Penelope answered. Mario looked inside. "That's really it?" Mario cautiously asked. It seemed just... too easy.
Penelope replied the same as before; "Yes."
Mario walked over and gave Peach a long hug, and she hugged back. Luigi walked over and tapped his brother on the shoulder. Peach and Mario immediately broke up, blushing like mad. Luigi handed Mario a device, and Mario took a close look at it.
"That's right," Luigi confirmed, "It's Gameboy Horror. Professor E. Gadd gave me a few to use after clearing that old mansion. It's water-proof, so we can stay in contact." Mario nodded, and then hugged his brother.
"We'll get that nasty old President, won't we bro?" Luigi asked. Mario nodded, blinked to hold back tears, and looked at the bottle.
"Confirming launch into, ahem, bottle of water in... 3... 2..." Scotty count down. Mario caught one last glimpse at his friends, then turned back to the bottle. "One!" yelled Scotty. Mario jumped into the bottle.

The whole jumping-into-a-bottle-of-water-and-shrinking thing might have been a tad odd. If you hadn't grown up in the Mushroom Kingdom, of course. Mario always did like visiting and revisiting the bottle. Everything about it seemed so calm, so serene. Those who stayed at Sirena Beach might've disagreed, but Mario thought this was the most breathtaking place around.
However... something seemed off. the place was no different that Mario's last visit years ago. Cheep-Cheeps and other types of fish swam around, the current and so many coins were still there. At the very bottom, was a building that contained a book that contained the secret to the President's safehouse. The words Too Easy flashed inside Mario's head again.
The jingle of a Gameboy Horror broke his thoughts. "Bro? BRO! Can you hear me, bro?" Luigi's voice exclaimed through the cross-transceiver (I spelled that wrong, didn't I?) Mario picked up the call. "I'm here, Luigi." Mario said into the microphone.
"Is everything okay in there?" Luigi asked. "Yeah, everything's fine." Mario replied. Penelope's voice came up. "Mario, when you reach the bottom search around the structure for a door. Inside there is the book."
THAT'S IT???!!! Mario almost screamed, but kept it sealed in his thoughts. This absolutely, 100% confirmed Mario's suspicions.
"Mario? Are you still there?" Mario realized he'd gotten lost in his thoughts. "Yeah."
Finally, he sank all the way to the bottom, and used the jetpack to get a better look around. He saw two opening on the west side, and swam over to the opening. Inside each, was a hallway. One leading to nowhere, and one leading to... Yes, a door! Mario immediately swam over into it, and opened the door. It was so rusty, it fell right off the hinges. And inside... was nothing.
"Penelope?" Mario asked, slightly spooked. "Where's the book?" Somehow, Mario sensed Penelope frowning from outside the bottle. "What do you mean, 'Where's the book'?" She asked. Mario replied. "Well, I'm looking inside and- hello? Hello?" The connection had gone out. Sensing danger, Mario swam out as fast as he could... And outside, he found himself surrounded completely by Torpedo Teds.
"Bravo, bravo." Mario had a cackling laugh and clapping... but from where?" The Gameboy Horror, he realized. He looked at the screen, and sure enough, the signal was taken over by a Grey, rosey red-suited Pianta. "Who- who are you?" Mario asked. "Isn't it obvious?" The Pianta asked. He sounded centuries old, but didn't look a day over 25.
"I'm President Charles Cornelious Ster." The Pianta purred, which sounded awful in his voice."Now please surrender, or these Torpedo Teds could blow you to bits and kill you, which would save me the trouble of having to do it myself."
Penelope turned to the Noki. "Scotty, have you brought the bottle?" The Noki, Scotty, nodded and pulled it out from his shell. Mario wondered what else Nokis could hide in their shells. Scotty walked up to Mario.
