Something cool I found, but takes a lot of patience and proper timing.
Step One: Go to Bianco Hills, Mission Six "Secret of the Dirty Lake" and go into the cave.
Step Two: Head to the yellow platform with those red triangles that appear out of nowhere and fly across the platform.
Step Three: This requires EXACT timing. Go onto the rotating cube that goes upward and go as high as you need (I'd say around halfway to the top) and when a triangle disappears, jump down and ground pound toward the platform. If you timed correctly, a red triangle should have appeared and flew across. If your ground-pound is near the triangle, for an odd reason, your ground-pound will instantly home in to the triangle instead of going in a straight fall.
Step Four: Go "What the heck?!"
And that's pretty much it. I'll see if I can find any other areas where this can be done.

This can be done a lot easier in those rotating wooden blocks from Ricco Harbor's secret level, but it's not as obvious.
Also, 100th post in the "Basic Talk" board!

Well, I've developed an outrageous theory over this, but it's the best I can comprehend it.
The game might have some sort of invisible landing/ground pound target that locks on to whatever is below Mario, so it knows where he lands. However, if the target is moving when Mario gets closer, Mario will still move toward the target, so his ground pound moves in the same direction as the moving object.
Yeah, I dunno.
